Week 55 (I think) - Turns out I'm allergic to soy lol
Hey everyone! Sorry I missed a couple weeks, we've been very very busy π
The past couple weeks have been great though! We've been teaching Kayven consistently and he's planning to be baptized on Friday the 29th of this month!! I'm so excited for him, and he's grown a lot since we started meeting him! It's also super cool watching a friend go from zero knowledge about the church all the way to baptism. Being a part of the whole process from beginning to end is so cool, and I'm so grateful I have the opportunity to do it here! Teaching Solomon was a similar experience, but still a bit different since his parents are members of the church and he started learning because they encouraged him too, not because he sought it out on his own. Solomon did also grow a lot though and he really has a testimony of his own now.
In other news, as the title says I guess I'm allergic to soy. It's not a severe allergy though, I didn't almost die from having soy or anything like that. I just get an upset stomach and acid reflux if I have too much of it. A little bit isn't a problem, so I can still dip my sushi in soy sauce and feel ok. But I will be checking my refried beans to see if they have soy from now on, as that is how I discovered the allergy. I noticed that sometimes refried beans are ok, and other times they make me feel bad. What was the difference? Turns out some had soy, some didn't. I tried drinking some soy milk to see if I'd have a similar reaction. Lo and behold, I did. So yeah⦠soy. Who knew?
In Magic: The Gathering news, I started building a deck from scratch! It's a really funny strategy, and while I was at the game store a super friendly MTG veteran walked in and offered to help me find the cards I was looking for! He even offered to get me some out of his own collection!! So that's a lot of fun. What strategy is this deck following? Squirrels. Yes, you read that correctly. Squirrels. It's not a competitive deck, at least not the one I'm building, but it is strong enough to be a threat in a game and it's absolutely hilarious. I cannot wait to finish building it, but there are still about 20 more cards I need to find.
That's all for now! It's a great day to be a missionary!
