Week 14 - Transfer news!!

We got transfer news today! I don't remember if I mentioned it last transfer, but it didn't matter much last transfer since we knew we'd probably both stay in Flin Flon. That's not the case this time though! I'll save that news for the end.

This week has been really good! We tried to go to a candlelight vigil that we got invited to, but we got the day wrong. The nice lady that invited us said "next Tuesday," on Saturday November 26th, which we thought meant Tuesday the 29th. But I guess it's actually tomorrow, so we'll be doing that tomorrow! Since we got the day wrong, and the location was right next to a subway, we went ahead ang got subway for dinner. We also went to the Flin Flon Christmas tree lighting which was so fun! Santa was there!! I didn't get to sit on his lap, but it was cute seeing all the little kids asking him for various things. We also got free hot chocolate, and a little goodie bag that I actually totally forgot about till just now, and have not yet opened. I'm now realizing I definitely should have taken a picture there but totally forgot (oops). So I guess I'll find out what's in that later. We did a lot of the normal stuff too, but one of the people who asked us to shovel, we accidentally shoveled his neighbor's house instead (oops again). Don't worry, we still went back and shoveled for the guy that actually asked for it.

I also experienced frostbite for the first time! let me tell you, not fun. I was wearing my dress shoes, and socks that were not thick enough, while we were out doing stop-bys. If you don't know what "stop-bys" are, it's a short way of saying we were visiting friends and less-active members briefly to check in on them and maybe invite them to church. Anyway, we were doing that, and we were outside for an hour or two, and my toes got some frostbite. Nothing severe, didn't lose a toe (although it'd be kinda funny if I did), it just hurt a bit. I was actually joking a lot with Elder Mendenhall about how it'd be funny if I lost a toe. Think about it, when it comes to losing something to frostbite, an ear or a finger would be too noticeable. People would always point it out and bother me about it. Plus, I use my fingers, and would prefer not to lose them. But a toe, no one would notice unless I intentionally pointed it out. Then I can tell my dramatic story of how I lost a toe to the bitter cold of northern Canada. Sure, we use our toes for balance and what not, but I think I'd be fine without one of them. Losing more than one toe, I might have problems there, but just one toe? That'd be funny.

Anyway, transfer news! As expected, I will be staying in Flin Flon and Elder Mendenhall will be leaving. My new companion will be Elder Hyder! What's really cool is Elder Hyder was Elder Mendenhall's MTC companion! And Elder Mendenhall has a lot of good things to say about him, so I'm excited to get to know him better! Elder Mendenhall will be serving in the St. James area of Winnipeg as the DISTRICT LEADER!! Which is so cool. Since he'll still be in the same zone, I'll get to see him during zone conference! That'll be fun, especially since by then I think I'll have a new Pokémon deck ready to obliterate him with.

That's all for this week! I'm super excited for the coming transfer and I'm so so excited for Christmas. Thomson is having me play guitar for their Christmas program so that'll be fun! I'll definitely make sure to get a video of that for you guys.

It's a great day to be a missionary!
