Week 59 - Our Cards are Working!
This week has been amazing! We've been so so busy. We're working our tails off and it shows. I think we'll have some baptisms in Morden! Which is pretty crazy, the past year or so it was a dead area, and nothing was happening. But this week our indicators rivaled that of a large city! Morden isn't even a branch yet, it's only a group, but it'll be a branch in no time π
We're having a ton of fun too! We laugh a lot throughout the day. Even on the hard days where everyone is mean to us, we just laugh it off and have a good time with it π
The Cards
Our cards work! We celebrated that day by getting donuts, and grocery shopping today we got a ton of nice food using the backlog of funds that had accumulated. So, this week, we'll eat like kings π€΄
Soft Hearted Peter
There was one guy we met last week, Peter, who was super friendly and interested in learning about the gospel. This week we had a lesson with him, and we talked about Joseph Smith's first vision and the restoration of the church. When I asked him his feelings and impressions after hearing the first vision, he said something along the lines of "there's not much to say other than, it's incredible and amazing, and it's true." We gave him a Book of Mormon and invited him to read it, and we have high hopes. Peter seems like he'll want to be baptized in the near future.
Hard Hearted Eva
We also had a funny lesson with a small family. The mother, Eva, did not retain anything. I don't know if she was brain dead or just not paying any attention, but literally everything we said went in one ear and out the other. The whole lesson was about the priesthood and what it is, and we involved her by asking questions and checking for understanding along the way, but at the end of the lesson she asked, "what's the priesthood?" π
The 15-year-old son, Kevin, on the other hand, understood everything! He wanted to come to church and progress towards baptism! But his mom wasn't willing to bring her kids to a different church. She's to set in her ways I guess π€¦ββοΈ
Good news though, we're also going to start teaching Kevin's friend down the street, Jayden! So, with his parents' permission, he might start joining our lessons with Jayden π
Other Notes
We have a lot of other people we're teaching; we met 5 new people last week and 6 new people this week, so we've got a lot of work to do! We're averaging 2-3 lessons per day!
Unfortunately, I have not convinced Elder Pomares to play a game of PokΓ©mon with me yet, but it'll happen eventually π
Oh, and Happy Thanksgiving! Today is Canadian Thanksgiving, and we're having a meal with some members in Winnipeg! (2 P days per transfer we drive up to Winnipeg, and today is one of them)
That's all for now! It's a great day to be a missionary!

P.S. - Happy birthday Mom! You're the best!
