Week 7 - Snow Way Bro.

Ah yes, a snow pun as the title. You know what that means. Snow in the middle of October. It's crazy, 2 weeks ago the leaves were green, last week they were yellow, and now they're almost all gone. I guess Autumn is pretty short lived in Flin Flon. Here's a video from the first time it snowed!

The past week has been so busy. We did a ton of service. One of the members of our ward’s property got broken into, and he had me come over and retrieve the security camera footage since I’m good with computers. We also helped Brother Angel with logging! It was actually a lot of fun chopping down trees and loading them up into his huge trailer. I guess it’s an important thing for a lot of people in Flin Flon to get lots of firewood before the winter.

There are at least 2 stacks of logs behind us

We also had a really fun game night on Friday! We met a nice man named Laurence, and his friend Mameet. Laurence has a huge collection of card and board games, and he brought 3 full bags of games! We played a super super fun one called Cyclades. It’s probably my new favorite board game and I’m looking forward to playing it again this coming Friday. It’s kinda like if Risk and Catan had a baby, and that baby was Greek somehow. So, in the game you have to use bribery to gain the favor of the Greek Gods and based on what god you have the favor of, defines what you can do that turn. So, if you want to build or move ships, you need the favor of Poseidon. If you want to go to war with someone, you need the favor of Ares. The goal of the game is to either be the last player standing or build 2 Metropolises. It’s a great game! And Laurence and Mameet are so friendly, I love them.

Today, I’m in Thompson again! And I’ll be here for the next few days. Unfortunately, Thompson is colder than Flin Flon right now. There are Icicles forming on the cars!! I didn’t bring my nice coat because I didn’t realize it was this cold up here, so we’ll see if I freeze to death this week. I’m sure I’ll be ok, I’ll just wear all of the clothes that I did bring, at the same time. As the days and nights get colder, I’m definitely going to need to get some extra blankets.

Last but not least, I got some Flin Flon hockey merch. It’s funny, I’ve never been super into hockey, but Canada has changed me. I don’t know if this place is cursed, or if there’s some neurological love-for-hockey chemical in the atmosphere, but I’ve never wanted to watch a hockey game more than now. GO FLIN FLON BOMBERS!!! Also, the sweatshirt I got is really comfy. So that’s cool.

Thanks for reading! I love you guys. Don’t ever forget how important and loved you are! As always, it’s a great day to be a missionary.

Love,
