Week 90 - Flin Flon is Literally on Fire
Hey! I bet some of you read that headline and thought I used the word “literally” incorrectly. Nope! There's a wildfire. It hasn't quite hit the city yet, but it has hit one of the neighboring communities called Cranberry Portage. And due to the fire the city of Flin Flon currently has no internet or cell service. Because of this, President Carr had the Flin Flon Elders pack all their stuff and evacuate to Prince Albert this morning. Why not Thompson? Because the road leaving Flin Flon going towards Thompson is in the fire. So, it's closed. Don't worry about Thompson though, the fire won't reach us. This has caused something else interesting: me and Elder Majeau are now by far the most isolated missionaries in the mission. The Flin Flon Elders will be joining PAs district temporarily, leaving us completely alone. We probably won't even have a district council next week because who are we going to council with? Just us? We already do that daily…

Here's the most up-to-date news article I've seen about it:

On a more positive note, Flin Flon had a baptism a few days ago!! I was actually the one who found him on Facebook a really long time ago, and after meeting with the missionaries for a while, he decided to be baptized! It's also the first real baptism Flin Flon has had in years. I'm not sure how many years, but I think it's in the 5-20 range.
Oh, and sorry I didn't email last week I got distracted trying out some free music production software. I made a cover of the song “You & Your Crown.” It's super super rushed (I only recorded a couple takes and didn't practice much) and pretty low quality (I know very little about music production), but hey I can't learn to produce music well if I don't first produce music poorly right? And nothing’s stopping me from re-making this song in the future, which I very well might do.
Here it is if you want to listen:
As for the rest of the week it's been by far the busiest of my whole mission. We're averaging 3-5 lessons a day! Most areas in the CAN WIN mission are excited to have 1 or 2. It's been wild. We also have 2 people on date for baptism, and one of them is later this month! So as always;
It’s a great day to be a missionary!
