Week 88 - I'm a Branch Clerk Now??

Soooo yeah something interesting about Thompson that is new since last time I was here: they don't have enough members to fill all the local leadership assignments. So the missionaries take the role of Branch Clerk. Elder Majeau is officially the “Branch Clerk” and I'm the “Assistant Branch Clerk.” Kinda crazy. It has some super nice perks though. Since we are the clerks, we have direct access to all the membership records and lists. Usually, we'd have to go through someone else to get that. Also, we help handle the Branch finances. When people need to be reimbursed for things, we write the check. I don't know about you guys, but to me it seems like putting two 18-21 year olds in charge of that is a terrible idea. Regardless, I guess that’s part of my job now. On the plus side, it will help prepare me if I ever serve a calling like it in the future 😄

As for serving in Thompson with Elder Majeau; it's absolutely amazing. Thompson is actually the highest teaching area in the mission right now!! And I love Elder Majeau. We've gotten a lot of really good work done already and we've played quite a bit of Magic. Sunday was super funny because a lot of the members were shocked to see me. You may recall while I was assigned to Flin Flon I actually spent a lot of time in Thompson and built good relationships with the members here. Now I'm back for round 2! It's honestly so weird being here again. Usually missionaries don't go back to areas they've already served in. It feels like a lucid dream.

The trip to get here was pretty crazy. 4-hour bus ride Thursday night, 2 hours of sleep, 6-hour bus ride Friday morning, we visited someone in the hospital in Winnipeg that evening and had a couple zoom lessons, got a better night of sleep, then drove for 8 hours Saturday and had 3 lessons that evening. It was pretty insane. But now I'm here and it's amazing.

It's a great day to be a missionary!
