Week 48 - they called the cops on us π
Hey everyone! This week was pretty tough. Not because of the cops getting called, that was actually pretty funny, but a lot of other stuff happened.
Let's start with the cop story though. Basically, Elder Knapp and I got hammocks. Which has been awesome. We do our studies while hammocking outside the church, it's super fun and it's so nice getting extra fresh air and sunshine in the morning. Well, one day we did this, but we planned poorly and had to leave before we could take the hammocks down. So, we were gone for around 4 hours before we could go back and pack them up. Later that day we heard news that some members of the stake presidency called the cops, because they saw the hammocks and thought homeless people were camping out there. Soooo that was kinda awkward and I don't think our mission president is super happy about it. We haven't set up our hammocks since, and we'll probably check with him tomorrow to see if we can start doing it again. Regardless, it was pretty funny that we got the cops called on us.
As for the rest of the week, it was really hard for a lot of reasons. One being our laptop charger broke. So, the next day I went and bought a new one with my own money so we could keep working at our normal pace, but then the laptop broke. It booted up as normal, worked for 2 minutes, and then blue screened and wouldn't start again. So that was tough, but hey we'll hopefully get that fixed or replaced soon. We also had plans to go to a VW car show in Findlater. Yes, the name of the town is Findlater. It sounds like they procrastinated coming up with a name and jotted down "Findlater" but then it stuck. Anyway, we had plans to go to this car show for a while. A member was going to give us a ride, we were going to talk to a bunch of people there, Elder Knapp could show off pictures of is VW Bus he drives back home, maybe we'd make some new friends, and it was going to be great. Well, we get there (40-minute drive btw), and right when we get out of the car, the guy running the show tells us to leave, and says he doesn't want us "Jesus people" ruining his show.
Yeah, huge waste of time, honestly ruined our day. Oh, and my 2 commander decks are missing. Apparently, I left them in Steinbach, and I never noticed, and they tried to send them here, but they never made it. So that also sucks. Last but not least, I thought the sister I liked was a secret, but apparently basically everyone knows. Likely including her. So that's very awkward and embarrassing. I don't actually know if she knows, but given how many people do know, it's likely she knows too. It's not a huge deal but that combined with everything else kinda crushed my motivation.
It wasn't all bad though. In fact, a lot of good still happened this week. We had an awesome sports night, and a lot of new friends came to play with us! Also, we got to go to the Temple with our friend that was baptized last month! It was so nice, and it's incredible how much he's progressing. Oh, and we got to go to a massive Filipino birthday party! It was crazy, they had a WHOLE PIG, which tasted amazing btw. Apparently turning 7 is a really big deal in Filipino culture, hence the massive party. We had a good time helping at the food bank again, and even though we didn't have our laptop we still managed to post our weekly reel on the HopeAhead page. So maybe it wasn't really all that bad of a week. And now that it's a new week, we're going to work extra hard to make this week even better!
It's a great day to be a missionary!
